Dennis Voigt
Dennis Voigt got his first retriever in 1968 after watching an indoor demonstration at a Sportsman Show and reading James Lamb Free's classic "Training Your Retriever". Dennis was hooked on the retriever sport after entering his duck hunting dog in a field trial and took 3rd place in the Open. Dennis has traveled to all four corners of North America with his retrievers to train, trial, judge, hunt and fish. He judges on both sides of the border, including two Nationals. He occasionally gives training and judging workshops, sometimes with top professionals. As an amateur trainer for almost five decades, Dennis has made 9 Field Trial Champions and 3 National Field Trial Champions.
Dennis is a retired wildlife research scientist and lives on a farm in southern Ontario with Fiona McKay and their menagerie while pursuing many hobbies including fly-fishing, hunting, photography, astronomy, cooking and gardening.
In his programs, Dennis shares the training methods he has learned from his own experience as well as the methods of many of the top professional retriever trainers in both the U.S. and Canada.
